This week, we take a look at the text “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley to analyze it for any information the author might be giving on the text. “I wish therefore that my companion should be wiser and more experienced than myself, to confirm and support me; nor have I believed it impossible to find a true friend” (Shelley P. 17). The quote is saying how Victor Frankenstein has found a companion that he is believed to be his first real friend. What Victor means is that he has found someone that understands him, in which is a big deal because he believed that no one could. He was on a boat with seamen for a long time, and he is an educated man seeking knowledge. In a way this reveals the author’s view on society by showing how important it is to be understood by others. Understood meaning other people know what your intentions are and how to relate on a mental level. This way of understanding one another means having friends because they might have the same level of understanding as someone seeking it. Again, seeking it meaning to be understood.
